Like to play bocce but can't stand the cold? Come learn how to play boccia! Like bocce, boccia is a game of skill, strategy, and accuracy. Played on a smooth indoor court, competitors use throws or rolls to outmaneuver their opponents. Boccia can be played solo, in pairs, or in teams of three.Boccia is a gentle and inclusive ball game perfect for senior citizens, focusing on precision and strategy rather than physical strength. Players take turns rolling or throwing soft balls to get as close as possible to a white target ball, called the jack. It’s a fun and social activity that encourages focus, hand-eye coordination, and friendly competition, making it ideal for seniors of all abilities.Join us on Tuesdays at 12:30 pm as Mark Denardis teaches us how to play at this learn to play workshop.

With elements of tennis, ping pong and badminton, this paddle and ball sport is played on a smaller sized tennis court. Pickleball is enjoyed all over the world by athletes of every age and ability level. Anyone can learn to play this game!Intro to Pickleball We'll focus on  fundamentals of pickleball including swing mechanics, court position, basic strategy and score keeping. Lessons will be offered with Guilford Racquet Club Pros once a week for 45 minutes and included age appropriate skills and drills! Lessons include a Racquet! Meet our Instructor:  Austin is a certified USPTA tennis teaching professional and worked at Fairfield County Tennis and Milford Indoor Tennis before landing in Guilford and North Branford.  He played high school tennis at Brookfield High School and college tennis at Western Connecticut State University, where his teams made the playoffs every year.  When he’s not teaching tennis he can be found playing tennis, as he belongs to several USTA league teams. Move to Music Fitness for SeniorsInstructor: Adrienne Patrella“Move to Music” is a Low Impact, Fun, Choreographed Fitness Class which can be done either seated or standing. The functional movements can help to improve Coordination, Balance, Strength and Memory.

Join instructor Brianne Barrett for a gentle yoga class designed to softly open tight areas of the body while strengthening muscles and reinforcing balance. Breathing and relaxation techniques will be taught to assist in releasing stress and finding mental clarity. Much of this class is taught on the floor with very little transitioning between standing and sitting. The use of props serves to make the yoga poses more accessible to those attending the class. This class is supportive of people working with injuries or chronic conditions. This practice is suitable for all ages and levels.Instructed by:Brianne Barrett

Like to play bocce but can't stand the cold? Come learn how to play boccia! Like bocce, boccia is a game of skill, strategy, and accuracy. Played on a smooth indoor court, competitors use throws or rolls to outmaneuver their opponents. Boccia can be played solo, in pairs, or in teams of three.Boccia is a gentle and inclusive ball game perfect for senior citizens, focusing on precision and strategy rather than physical strength. Players take turns rolling or throwing soft balls to get as close as possible to a white target ball, called the jack. It’s a fun and social activity that encourages focus, hand-eye coordination, and friendly competition, making it ideal for seniors of all abilities.Join us on Tuesdays at 12:30 pm as Mark Denardis teaches us how to play at this learn to play workshop.

Crew will be separated into age-appropriate groups for activities. We plan to offer field trips on most weeks for no additional fee, as well as weekly entertainment and structured classes.Children will have the opportunity to engage in arts, crafts, sports, games, fitness and occasional water play throughout the day. Beginning Monday, June 23th, we will be offering 8 consecutive weeks of Summer R.E.C. Crew for children entering grade 1 and up. Regardless of age, the child must have completed Kindergarten to enroll. Summer R.E.C. Crew will run Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Summer R.E.C. Crew will be separated into age-appropriate groups for activities. We plan to offer field trips on most weeks for no additional fee, as well as weekly entertainment and structured classes.Children will have the opportunity to engage in arts, crafts, sports, games, fitness and occasional water play throughout the day. Appropriate for all ages and levels. A fluid (vinyasa) class taught with basic foundation poses, alignment and options for the beginner students, as well as, seasoned practitioners. This class will focus on releasing the stress of your busy week in both the mind and body leaving all students with more space to breathe, ease in their body and calm in their mind. This camp is designed to develop the basic skills each athlete has by focusing on tactical game awareness, 1v1 defense, elevated passing, elimination and shooting skills. This camp is fun, exciting, and creates player synergy no matter what age or skill level. Equipment needed: Stick, mouth guard, shin guards and goggles (optional). This camp is designed to develop the basic skills each athlete has by focusing on tactical game awareness, 1v1 defense, elevated passing, elimination and shooting skills. This camp is fun, exciting, and creates player synergy no matter what age or skill level. Equipment needed: Stick, mouth guard, shin guards and goggles (optional). Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is done while sitting. Some poses will also be done standing using a chair for support. Who: Ages 18+ Where: STW Community Center, Tuesday eveningInstructor: Richard Dicine  Description: Bring balance and harmony to your life while you strengthen your body in this traditional T’ai Chi Ch’uan class. Taught by an instructor with 30 years of martial arts experience and a Gold Medal Winner of the T’ai Chi Ch’uan nationals. Students practice relaxation, balance and flexibility while learning to understand the body/mind relationship.
